Okinawa

Earlier this month, our whole family took a trip to Okinawa to visit some friends. The weather was great apart from the first typhoon in Okinawa in December for 20 years. Blue skies, two-toned blue seas, fantastic beaches and most important, friends. All the things that took me to Okinawa in the summer of 2002 and compelled me to stay for 2 months. I should have returned earlier and maybe I shouldn’t have left at all but it was good to be back.

Meeting my friends again and making a couple of new friends reminded me of the importance of my friends to me. I draw strength from them and am inspired by them, every single one of them. Of course I have friends in places other than Okinawa but being in such a relaxed and warm atmosphere helped me see this more clearly.

Rie and I also celebrated our first wedding anniversary staying at the Renaissance Hotel courtesy of a wedding gift from Ben and Sharon. Thank-you very much!! Rie was impressed at the level of service and the way that the staff at the hotel made our anniversary special. A special apology goes to the babysitter at the nursery school who had to take care of our lovely but extremely grumpy angel for 4 hours.

I just wish we had more time in Okinawa, more time to spend with friends, more time to enjoy the beaches and more time to go geocaching.

Maybe next time…
