My Resolution

I don’t really believe in New Year Resolutions, mainly because I feel that if you wanted to change your life in a meaningful way you shouldn’t wait until a specific date. If it is important enough, just do it now. My resolution just happened to come to me around New Year so for convenience and conversation sake, I call it a New Year’s Resolution. What is it?

To fail more. As long as it is non-fatal, it is quite an empowering thing to have the option to fail. If you are not afraid of failing you are more likely to try some things. Some will work out, some won’t. But often from the ones that don’t, you learn a lot, including some things that you would not have if they had succeeded. I’ve learnt a lot from recent failures, including a few web projects and also certain negotiations but I certainly know more than I did before I failed and that experience will serve me well in the future. So I hope that you will join me, in failing more this year :)

Wouldn’t it be nice if we were able to learn the lessons which we would learn when we fail, and yet, at the same time, not fail, but succeed in what we are doing? :-) Am I being over-greedy?
