Well, Christmas in Japan is just a little different to back in the UK. For a start it is not a public holiday. I’ll be working on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Also it is less a family oriented, more a couple-oriented holiday. Later on tonight I am planning to go to Kobe to see the Luminarie Christmas lights. If I am lucky I might be able to take some photos but I hear it can be pretty hard to take decent photos because of the number of people there. If I do, I will try to post them up as soon as possible.

New Year is the more important event here. It is on the 1st January (unlike the Chinese who use the lunar calendar) and it is a public holiday. I am looking forward to it and the 108 tolling bells. I have vacation time from the 29th Dec to 6th Jan which ain’t bad. Hopefully I will get to meet some of my friends around this period, like Eriko who is actually spending Christmas in Hong Kong but will return for New Year.

Merry Christmas and a Very Happy New Year
