Launchy – “Quicksilver for Windows”
I’ve been meaning to and forgetting to tell everyone about the great program that is Launchy. I hope Josh doesn’t mind but Launchy is like QuickSilver but for the PC. That is to say that it is a keyboard based program launcher. Hit a hotkey combination ( I use Control-Space) and then the first few characters of the program or file you want to load. It is a lot quicker than digging around in the Start menu or My documents folder. The screenshots on the Launchy site show the concept better than I can explain in words.
I don’t think the functionality is at the same level as QuickSilver but that’s because QuickSilver has been around for years.
It is free, open source and very useful so give it a try. If you like it, donate a small amount (I did) and tell your friends about it.
