Kings of Europe
It was totally mind-blowing how Liverpool won their 5th European Cup. 1-0 down after 1 minute, 3-0 down at half-time. Then our captain fantastic scored an early goal in the second half and the belief returned. It helped that Rafa brought on Hamann, it helped that we had players like Carragher, Smicer, Alonso, Hyppia, Baros, Riise and Dudek all willing to fight and not give up. Then it was 3-2 from a Smicer strike. Then a penalty for Liverpool, Alonso takes it, misses then scores the rebound! 3-3 after 60 minutes. Liverpool on top but couldn’t score the extra one. So extra time, and Dudek makes a double point blank save from Shevchenko, European Player of the Year. Then penalties and once again Dudek was the hero. Three saves in total, Liverpool win 3-2 on penalties.
We are Kings of Europe again, and because we have won it 5 times we get to keep it!!
