How to get to DenDen Town in Osaka
DenDen Town 電電街 is the Akihabara of Osaka. I am not sure of the relative sizes but you can easily spend a whole afternoon walking around DenDen Town.
The Easiest Way
The easiest way is by the Osaka subway, the subway is coloured coded and stations are now numbered. Here is a pdf of the English map of the Osaka subway. If you get the Sakaisuji (界筋線) line, coloured brown, and get off at Ebisucho (恵美須町) (K18), you only need to take either the 1A or the 1B exit and you are smack bang in DenDen Town.
The Next Easiest Way
Other routes include getting off at Namba 難波 (M20) on the Midosuji (御堂筋線) subway line, coloured red. Get out at the exit leading to Takashimaya 高島屋 and walk towards Muji/Tower Records. Keep walking along that street until you get to the crossroads, turn left at the corner and walk down that street until you see Sofmap/Yoshinoya 吉野家. At that corner turn right and you will be in DenDen town. It will take you about 10 minutes.
The Quite Hard If You Don’t Know Osaka Way
Get off at Shinimamiya 新今宮 on the JR train, head towards the Osaka Tower – Tsutenkaku 通天閣.. You’ll probably pass through a underpass to get there. When you get to the tower, look for the Shinseikai Street 新世界 and walk to the end of it. You should see a Yoshinoya 吉野家 (a different one to the one mentioned above), that is the other end of DenDen Town.
The GPS Way
Here are the GPS co-ordinates to help you get there if you have a GPS unit, you’ll realise that you are at DenDen town even before you get to these exact co-ordinates.
N34°39.659′ E135°30.361′
I’ll update this post with better directions for the harder ways and maybe even photos to use as reference points.
