I’m in Ireland at the moment in a town called Athlone. We are visiting Rie’s little sister Akiko and all her friends. We are having a great time, nice and relaxing. This is actually one of the few times I have touched a computer since leaving Japan. I haven’t had access to the Internet at all… I am dreading the amount of spam just waiting for me in my email inbox.
This blog really isn’t supposed to be a complete day by day account of my life. I haven’t even mentioned that I finally got married. I better mention it now in case someone thinks that I didn’t think it was important enough to mentioned.

I got married on the 6th December. Rie and I have been engaged for a couple of months now and we would have been married earlier but we decided to wait on the rings. We got married in Osaka and Jun-san and Suzuki-san were our witnesses. They made the whole day a wonderful memorable day. Someone asked me how it felt to be married now, and really it doesn’t feel all that different. I do feel though that I am the luckiest guy to have Rie as my wife and life partner. It is going to be some adventure from here on in.
Congratulations to Ben & Sharon too. They got married on Friday and the ceremony and reception were wonderful. It was a great day and Sharon looked beautiful. It was great seeing Colm again and meeting his wife Fiona. All the speeches were great and very very funny.
I didn’t get the chance to meet up with Matt though. He was supposed to make a visit to Belfast but the assignment was cancelled at the last moment. That was a great pity. He is due to visit Japan sometime next year but he’s not sure when.
Well I’d better get back to the job of relaxing
