A conversation with Michelle (aged 2 years, 7 months)

What follows is a short conversation with Michelle (translated into English from the mixture of Japanese and English we use).

M: What’s that?
I: It’s a list of domains
M: do-meins??
I: Yeah, a list of domain names I have.
M: hmm…

after a few seconds of thinking

M: oh, domains! yeah yeah domains.

Of course, she doesn’t know what domains are yet, but it is amazing that she can make conversation and fake understanding so naturally. I only wish I could do the same in Japanese when speaking with my colleagues :)

Yeah, I sometimes try to fake understanding when osaka obaasan talk to me while we wait for the bus. Not half as well though, and because I look Japanese, they just think I am extremely slow ;)
